Marina History
In 1982 John and Sandy Woolston came to Punta Gorda in search of their dreams. Good fortune shined on them when they met Dr. Clement, who at the time was the owner of Paradise Sport Marina. He wanted to sell the marina and was looking for trusting people to pass it off to. John and Sandy opened the doors of Punta Gorda Marina on December 12, 1982. They provided repair service and had a small ship store. The Marina grew over the years; the Woolston's built their home on the marina property, an additional lift well was added, land was cleared to provide for more repair and storage space. The marina did many things over the years- sell new boats, do it yourself, but throughout our history we have always maintained our dedication to provide the best service.
Today, John wanting to slow down but keep the marina as part of the community has hired a general manager to run the day to day operation. He knows with confidence that Patrick the general manager, and the employees David who has worked at the marina for 30 years, Freeman for 12, Ricardo for 10 and Carlos who does our canvas an upholstery work will give the customers the same quality work that has come to be expected of Punta Gorda Marina.
